Robert J. Vogel
Mr. Vogel joined the Investment Manager effective March 1, 2008. He brings experience as a leader of a global E&P company with a significant exploration track record and financial expertise. The LEV Team will utilize his experience in the areas of acquisitions and managing liquidity as Lucas seeks to maximize returns through various investments and structures. Specifically, Rob will play a key role in management functions, including managing banking relationships for Lucas, as well as portfolio companies, on matters such as reserve based lending and commodity hedging. Mr. Vogel will also serve in an advisory capacity to the LEV Investment Committee.
Trained as a chemical engineer, Mr. Vogel began his career in California with Chevron in 1981. He was a process control engineer and held positions at both the Richmond and El Segundo refineries. After receiving an MBA in Finance, he moved to W.R. Grace in New York where he served as a Financial Analyst in the Industrial Chemicals division reviewing capital projects and acquisitions. In 1987, Rob joined Hess Corporation as Manager of Debt Administration, where he was responsible for a debt portfolio of $1.5 billion. During his 18 year career at Hess, he served in various corporate finance roles. When he was Manager Inventory Control & Supply Analysis he advised on petroleum price hedging strategies. In a subsequent role as Manager of Corporate Planning he had oversight for the corporate-wide planning and budgeting process. In 2004 Mr. Vogel was appointed Vice President & Treasurer of Hess.
Mr. Vogel received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1981 from the University of Colorado. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration with Distinction from the Stern School, New York University. He serves as a Trustee and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Community Foundation of New Jersey and is active with his church and multiple philanthropic organizations.
