We are fiduciaries who always put the needs of our clients before our own. Our only revenue comes from advisory fees that are clearly communicated to our clients. Ralf has been with Lucas Capital since 2006 as a portfolio manager and a risk manager. He began his career in 1988 at Bank of America in Frankfurt, Germany, at its Foreign Exchange and Money Market trading desk. In 1991, he moved to Deutsche Bank trading Foreign Exchange. His increasing responsibilities at Deutsche Bank included heading trading desks in Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, and New York City. When Ralf left Deutsche Bank in 2006 he was a Managing Director running Global Currency Spot Trading out of New York. In 1996, Ralf became part of the Lucas family with his marriage to Meg Lucas. Ralf received his education in Frankfurt Germany, where the rest of his family still lives. He loves the outdoors, sports (especially platform tennis and golf), and enjoyes time with Meg and their three children, Adele (Bucknell Univ), George, and Fritz. They summer in Bay Head, NJ and frequently travel to Germany to see extended family and friends.
Rob joined Lucas Capital in 2008. His responsibilities include portfolio management, energy-income research, and supporting Lucas' private investments. Prior to joining Lucas, Rob was Vice President and Treasurer of Hess Corporation. In the Treasurer role, he had global responsibility for Capital Markets, Treasury Operations, Insurance, and managing the company’s $3 billion in Pension Plans. He spent 20 years at Hess in a variety of financial leadership roles. Working his way from financial analyst to senior financial executive, Rob has experience with a broad range of financial challenges. In addition to his role at Lucas, Rob is Chairman of the Board of Red Leaf Resources, a Utah company involved in the production of liquid fuel from oil shale. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado and an MBA with distinction from New York University. Rob lives in Warren, NJ with his wife Carrie and their daughters Annette (Bentley Univ) and Natalie. The family spends summers in Seaside Park, NJ. Rob enjoys woodworking, sailing, and golf in his leisure time. He sees the essential role that not-for-profits enterprises play in our society. He serves as Chairman of the BlinkNow Foundation, is a past board member of the Community Foundation of NJ, currently Chair of the Finance Committee at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
Brett has been with Lucas Capital since 2000 and is the head trader, a portfolio manager, analyst, and co-compliance officer for the Investment Manager and General Partner. He began his career in 1995 at Merrill Lynch and then at McConnell, Bud, and Downes, a broker/dealer specializing in small cap banks, as Head Equity Trader before joining LCM. Brett received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1995 from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and is a former Options and Securities Principal. In his free time he enjoys golf, platform tennis, and skiing-especially when doing those activities with his wife Sue and his children Padraig and Lia.
M. Bruce Severance▼
Bruce joined Lucas Capital in July 2005. His primary role is as a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Lucas Capital, Bruce spent 8 years as one of five portfolio managers with H. G. Wellington on Wall Street. Before that he spent 16 years with Smith Barney/Shearson. He started with the Chase Manhattan Bank and had co-managed a family magazine subscription business. Bruce is a graduate of the South Kent School, Rutgers University, and did some graduate work at New York University. Bruce and his wife Terry split time in Rumson, NJ and South Dartmouth, MA where they are actively engaged in charitable activities in the community. Bruce has two sons, Ben and Bryan who both have successful careers. Bruce clearly has a sense of humor as he still considers himself as a golfer and tennis player.
Kathleen joined Lucas Capital at its inception in 1996 as the office manager and benefits administrator. She received her Bachelor Degree from Mt. St. Mary's College. Kathleen began her career at Smith Barney where she ran the broker orientation program for over 3 years. She then transferred to the branch office as a client service manager. Kathleen's top priority at Lucas is to provide superior client service. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, doing outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, gardening and antiquing. She has two children, Krysten and Jim, both of whom are married. She is also the proud "Nanny" of two grandchildren.
Julie joined Lucas Capital Management in 2002, and has over 15 years of financial experience. She began her financial career in 1992 at Lipper Analytical Services, providing mutual fund research and performance analysis to some of the world's largest news sources. After eight years at Lipper, she spent two years in operations at a successful local investment manager. Julie graduated from Rutgers School of Business with a Bachelors of Science in Management and a minor in Economics in 1991. She serves as Comptroller and Chief Compliance Officer for the Lucas funds.
